Favor Anchored in Prayer

Talking to people (yes, face-to-face … what a concept LOL).  I’ve heard the heart of God’s children as they desperately wait for answers to their prayers.

They share how their prayers are not answered.  God's favor is on others, but not them. It has been so long since God has heard my prayers, I do not think it's working.  Those pretty much sums up the majority of what is being said.

What I haven’t heard is that they have anchored their prayers on what God said as truth.  Instead of believing the promises of God (for themselves) over circumstances, they believe the circumstance out weigh the promises.

They are believing the lies of the enemy, not the truth of the Word of God.   No wonder they do not see good results... they are not believing in favor for their own lives.

In almost every situation the concept and thought of hoping for a good outcome is far from their thinking. Many succumb to the circumstances rather than stand on the promises of God.

One of the most important verses in the Bible reveals a key to receiving favor in the midst of any situation or circumstance.  Look at this passage:

"...but let all those rejoice who put their trust in You: Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend (protect, cover) them; Let those also who love Your name be joyful in You.

For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous (those in right standing with You); with favor You will surround him/her as with (like) a shield."  (Psalm 5:11-12 NKJV)

Trust = Protection = God's Favor

In this passage, King David was crying out to the Lord and thanking Him in advance for His promises to those who were in right standing with God.  He believed for protection against those coming against him and spread lies, including his very own son Absalon and his so-called beloved nation.

Regardless to what was happening, the King trusted and believed God would surround Him with protection, no matter what the enemy was about to do.

David anchored His morning prayer in God's promises and believed them as the truth over circumstances.  He stood on the promises, and God surrounded him like a protective shield, preventing the enemies from prevailing.

It is important to anchor your prayers in what God said in His Word.  Stand firm, stay fixated and grounded on the Word of God, not the enemies, situation or circumstance(s).  Focus on scriptures that cover a promise over the situation.

No matter what it looks like, remind yourself that you have a covering of God's favor on your life.  That favor holds promises greater than anything that is coming against you.

As you pray over each situation/cirumstance, have faith in the Word of God and that He will be faithful to His Word and promises.

Do not let your prayers get washed out to sea and lose hope thinking that God has lost control over things.  He hasn’t.

Anchor yourself to the Lord in prayer, and you will be biblically promise-tied to His favor.

God wants us to be overcomers and profit from our trials, knowing that He is able to deliver on what He has already said through scriptures.  We can be confident that unlike us, He always delivers! (Read James 1:1-8)

No longer do we have to wonder if God thinks about what we are experiencing in life.  We can set our anchor of hope in Jesus, and trust in the truth that God has already said what He will do for those who believe.  We have His Word on it as a trustworthy anchor for favor!

“This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.  Jesus has already gone in there for us.  He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.” (Hebrews 6:19-20 NLT)

If you said that hope is lost, I’d tell you my hope is anchored … to the promise of the cross of Jesus.  Through every trial, test, tribulation I’ll trust and keep holding on to The Anchor who is unshakeable.

His Name and Word are higher and greater than anything we’ll ever encounter!  Hold on to the Favor Anchor in prayer!

“Now” Isn’t Always God’s Best

I was sitting on the couch in silence waiting for my husband when my unspoken discussion on “timing” transpired.

“Why do we have such a hard time waiting on things?”  I asked God.  An inner voice said, “Because people don’t spend time in My Word.”

It’s true. We pray and go on our merry way forgetting to spend time with God for encouragement and enrichment, then when our prayers don’t come to pass we question His timing.

"Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us.  And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God's promises to be fulfilled."  (Romans 15:4 NLT)

The Lord was showing me that if we cannot wait on Him for the small things, we’ll never be able to hold out for the large things He has planned for us.  Being continually in the Word helps with the process while we wait on the promise to come to pass.

Scriptures tell us that God's Word gives us hope and encouragement as we wait, showing us that there is a purpose for waiting.  God is not withholding His best from His children, but quite the opposite.  He longs to be gracious and show abundant mercy (Daily Favor) to those who wait patiently on His move.

Let us look at some other passages that hold true to the same message.

"... ADONAI is just waiting to show you favor, He will have pity (compassion) on you from on high; for ADONAI is a God of justice; happy are all who wait for Him! (Isaiah 30:18 CJB Complete Jewish Bible)

Instead of being upset, sad or disappointed that things are not going like we expected, we should be happy that we waited for God's best instead of settling for the first thing that comes along.

"And therefore doth wait Jehovah to favour you, and therefore He is exalted to pity you (show compassion), for a God of judgment (is) Jehovah, O the blessedness of all waiting for Him." (Isaiah 30:18 YLT Young's Literal Translation)

While we wait for God's best, scripture teaches that as we do so, the Lord is right with us showing compassion on the situation.

"... For this reason the Lord is still waiting to show His favor to you so He can show you His marvelous love.  He waits to be gracious to you.  He sits on His throne ready to show mercy (unmerited favor) to you.

For YAHWEH is the Lord of justice, faithful to keep His promises.  Overwhelmed with bliss are all who will entwine their hearts in Him, waiting for Him to help them."  (Isaiah 30:18 TPT The Passion Translation)

God is sitting on His throne excited to move on your behalf. He is lining everything up in your favor so you recieve more than you could have ever asked or even thought!

"Now to Him who is able to (carry out His purpose and) do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think (infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams), according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever, Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21 AMP)

God not only wants to give you the best, but give you better than you could ever image or dream.

"Never doubt God's mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this.  He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination!  He will outdo them all, for His miraculous power constantly energizes you." (Ephesians 3:20 TPT The Passion Translation)

Reading these passages should encourage us to stay in the Word to find out more of what God has in store for those who love Him and wait patiently on His best.

Here is one more powerful scripture that ties everything together: God's action (commitment to His promises), His favor and how waiting on His best is worth it.

"From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you, who acts for those who wait for Him." (Isaiah 64:4)

Now read it this way ...

"These amazing things had never been heard of before; You did things never dreamed of!  No one perceived Your greatness.  No eye has ever seen a God like You, who intervenes for those who wait and long for You!" (Isaiah 64:4 TPT The Passion Translation)

Sometimes it seems that if you had to wait one more day for your dreams to come true, you will give up and give in to the pressure of life.  I get it, I've been there - many, many times and still find myself clinging to the promises of God hoping that today will be the day of deliverance!

Wanting things to happen right now may not always be the best for us and we may be tempted to take whatever comes along, knowing it's not what we prayed.  Do not give in to that lie ... God has not forgotten His promises.

Scripture makes it as clear of what God wants to do for those who wait patiently on His best.  He knows how long things are taking and is not worried a bit;  something good is on its way to you!

Friends, if we are to receive the best or bigger blessing of favor for our hopes, dreams or desires, we need to stay in God's Word!  Remain steadfast in faith, and eagerly practice patience waiting for the perfect time to come... because it will!  He promised!

Faith or Feeling

Do you find that every time you turn on the news or log into social media your emotions go into a tail spin?  You start thinking, "How am I supposed to react to all this?" ... "How is this going to affect/effect my life?" ... "What happens now?"

It is easy to get caught up in all the drama of the world, but that is not the way Christians are to respond to what the world is doing.

The Bible tells us that as believers we are to keep our feeling and emotions in check with the Word of God if we are to have victory over a circumstance.  It’s no wonder “Victory” has been such a challenge.

When we let what we see override our faith in God’s promises, it cancels out the favor He has sent forward for our triumph.  It’s actually “unspiritual” to let our feelings get out of control, and as if we don’t belong to the Lord at all but are ordinary men/women.

“You are still worldly (controlled by ordinary impulses, the sinful capacity). For as long as there is jealousy and strife and discord among you, are you not unspiritual, and are you not walking like ordinary men (unchanged by faith)?” (1 Corinthians 3:3 AMP)

Negative feelings open the door for defeat and will lead us to places we never want to go.  “Feelings” will always be there, but Godly wisdom will help us decide not to follow that path.

Recently Hubby hurt his left arm, and I began examining his right arm to see if there was a bruise or something to verify his complaint.  As soon as I heard my husband say, “It’s the other arm” it reaffirmed what God was revealing to me.

So often we are fixated on the “other arm” so to speak.  We focus on the wrong side of the situation and only see what the devil wants us to see, which triggers fear and negative feelings.

You can have victory over emotions or feelings!

Faith has to disregard what the eye sees and focus on what the heart believes about the Word of God.  Every time I do that the Lord reminds me that “My grace (my unmerited favor and mercy) is sufficient (more than enough) for you (in any situation).

My grace is sufficient and so is my favor on the situation.  Say it like this: My Favor is sufficient …” (from 2 Corinthians 12:9)

Roughing It Out

Do you have people in your life that constantly rub you the wrong way?  You know what I mean … the ones that bring storms with them all the time?
I have a term for those types of personalities called, “sandpaper people.”
There are several kinds of these individuals or should I say, “levels” instead.  Just like there are different grades of sandpaper, there are levels to these personalities.  They range from smooth to really rough and abrasive.
If we had to be around sandpaper people I would venture to say that we would all prefer the smoothest grade, right?  But that’s not how it works.
God sends (allows) people in our lives that will ruffle our feathers as a test of our faith and integrity as believers in Christ.  He uses “sandpaper” personalities to refine us in becoming better servants and leaders for the Kingdom of God.
Believe it or not, if you don’t have anyone in your life that rubs you the wrong way, then either you aren’t being molded for greater things of God, or you are the sandpaper.  At times, you can even be both!
Life as a Christian isn’t supposed to be a bed of roses and easy going all the time.  We should expect good and even great favor filled days, but as long as we are here on earth there will be trials that try to form against us.  Knowing who you are in Christ Jesus takes care of the sandpaper people.
“No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment you will condemn.  This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of Me,” says the LORD. (Isaiah 54:17 NKJV)
Thankfully, we have a weapon in the Word of God to shield us from the work of satan. God has promised us victory favor over circumstances.  We need the "roughing it out" battle in order to experiece the favor of God that leads to a victory!  So come on sandpaper people, take your best shot!
“These things I (Jesus) have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NKJV)

What Kind of Traveler are You?

It is a scene you never forget. People running in the airport with tons of baggage.  They are draping it over their shoulders, pushing it along with a foot, dragging it behind them with one major suitcase on wheels.

Simply put they are overwhelmed by all the "stuff" they feel they need to carry, and more than likely, most of it will never get used.  Even more, although they know they are carring a load they do not need to, they keep doing it over and over as if something might change.

We are like that traveler, carrying burdens God said we do not need to carry.  As a matter of fact, He asks us to unload them, yet we still feel the need to hang on to what we really want to be rid of in reality.

What Kind of Traveler are You?

Let me pose these questions to you.  Are you the type of traveler where the luggage is weighted with heavy burdens that should have been left at the foot of the cross?  Do past sins, unforgiveness, guilt, envy and strife cause your suitcases to weigh in as “additional carry-on baggage?"

Are you tired of collecting these badges along the way, resulting in excess beyond what you can handle?

Until we learn to travel “light” with Jesus by casting our cares on Him (1 Peter 5:7), we’re going to constantly be detoured away from our life’s goals and His favor.  After all, would you give favor to someone who does not trust you or your word?  Certainly not, neither will God.

"...casting ALL your care upon Him, for He cares for you." 2 Peter 5:7

The word cast means to throw out, toss away from you in the opposite direction from where you are.  To intently, on purpose hurl something out of your reach.  Are you doing that or are you adding to unneccesary overloaded baggage?

Trust God Over Emotions

As part of your life plan, stay focused on the prize of the High calling (Philippians 3:14).  It starts with unloading emotional and physical luggage, while trusting and leaning on the Lord.

"I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 3:14

If you are wondering why you are not seeing Daily Favor in your life, check your trust factor.

No matter what is happening in your life, believe God's word over what you are feeling. Feelings change, God's word doesn't.  The Bible asks us "which one do you believe?"  This gives us a choice. We can either choose to believe truth, which is God's word, or our unreliable feelings.

Thank you for sharing Daily Favor Blog, and we hope you will do the same as we begin our journey on Favored Living.
