Tell Me

What do you want to know?  Ask …
These are some of the most asked questions concerning the Christian lifestyle.

Q.  What is sin?
A.  Anything that goes against God is sin.

Q.  Has everyone sinned?
A.  Yes.  All have sinned and fallen short of God's grace.

Q.  Can I be forgiven from my sin?
A.  Yes.  If we confess our sins to God, He is able to forgive us from all unrighteousness.  (See prayer below.)

Q. How do I become a child of the Living God?
A. Say a prayer of salvation and ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart to forgive you of all your sins.  (See prayer below.)

Q.  Do I have to pay or do anything for this salvation?
A.  No. You can't do anything to get it other than to ask for God to forgive you.  It's His gift to us because God loves us.

Q. How can I become closer to God?
A.  Read and study the Holy Bible, pray, attend church, fellowship with other believers.

Q.  What version of the Bible should I read?
A.  Many have begun their walk with Christ reading the King James Version of the Bible, but use other translations to help them dig deeper in study.

Q.  How often should I read the Bible?
A.  Daily and as much as possible.  The Bible is God talking to you.  Prayer is you talking to Him.  The more you read the Bible the more you learn about God, His ways and His heart.  It will help you build a strong, loving relationship with God.

Q.  Do I have to go to church?
A.  If you love  God you should have a desire to fellowship with His people, encourage others and grow in your relationship with the Lord.  Going to church will strengthen your walk with God and give you guidance.

Q.  Aren't all people who go to church saved or "born again" Christians?
A.  No.  Just because someone goes to church doesn't make them saved or "good."  Only accepting Christ into your heart through the confession of your sins (with your mouth) will save you from sin.

Q.  What church should I attend?
A.  There are many good churches to attend.  Look for a church where the Word of God is being taught without compromise.   Some churches preach a watered down Bible; avoid those.  Pray and ask God which is the right one for you.

Q.  Does baptism save people?
A.  No.  Baptism is a symbol of what Jesus experienced on the cross.  He died, was buried and rose again on the third day.

Q.  Do I have to be baptized?
A.  Yes.  We are commanded to be baptized as an open testimony to others that we are a child of God's.  Baptism does not save people from going to hell.  It is an act of obedience to Christ and testifies that we have been saved from eternal separation from God.

Q.  Don't all people go to Heaven?
A.  No.  Only those who have confessed their sin and believe that Jesus is God's Son will go to Heaven.

Q.  How often should I pray?
A.  Often and always. God is interested in every aspect of your life and wants to be included in it.  Don't feel that your problem or concern is too small or large for Him.  Talk to God all through the day.

Q.  What if I sin after becoming a Christian?  Will God forgive me?
A.  Yes.  He is faithful and just to forgive all sin if we sincerely are repentant and ask Him to forgive us.

Q.  What if I don't want to quit sinning?  Will I still go to Heaven?
A. If you have no desire to stop sinning against God, you are not saved.  A true believer has a desire in their heart not to sin.

Q.  What if I want to stop sinning, but find it difficult at times?
A.  Learning to walk as Christ did takes time. Pray for God to help you not to fall back into your old ways, seek help from a pastor or elder in the church and fellowship as much as possible with other believers.

Q.  What do I have to give up after becoming a Christian?
A.  Nothing, but you should have a desire to give up anything that is not godly.  If you don't, question whether you are really born again and believe in Jesus.

Q.  What am I supposed to do now that I am a Christian?
A.  Tell others about Christ and what He has done for you.  Share your testimony of how you came to know about Him and invite others to believe on Jesus for their own salvation.

Prayer of Salvation: How to be born again

If you want to become a child of God say this prayer out loud and mean it with all your heart.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I know that I have sinned against God and confess it before You.

Please forgive me of everything I have done that is sin.

Wash my heart and make it clean.  I want to be changed and follow after You.

Come into my heart and save me now.  Make me a child of Yours.

Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and with Truth.

Thank you for this free gift.  I receive the gift of salvation right now.

Lead me in the direction I need to go and I will testify of Your saving grace and mercy on my life.

In Jesus Name I Pray, Amen.

Please let me know if you prayed this prayer so I can rejoice with you in your new relationship with Christ.

    1. I'm so blessed that God has enabled me to live out a passion of mine - writing. Through this avenue I meet the most wonderful people such as yourself, and it ignites the flame in me even more to do my best for the Lord. May we both strive to hear these words from our beloved Savior: "Well done My good and faithful servant." Margaret, you are such an encourager to the Body of Christ, and I am honored to call you my friend and sister.
