Roughing It Out

Do you have people in your life that constantly rub you the wrong way?  You know what I mean … the ones that bring storms with them all the time?  

I have a term for those types of personalities called, “sandpaper people.” 

There are several kinds of these individuals or should I say, “levels” instead.  Just like there are different grades of sandpaper, there are levels to these personalities.  They range from smooth to really rough and abrasive.  

If we had to be around sandpaper people I would venture to say that we would all prefer the smoothest grade, right?  But that’s not how it works.

God sends (allows) people in our lives that will ruffle our feathers as a test of our faith and integrity as believers in Christ.  He uses “sandpaper” personalities to refine us in becoming better servants and leaders for the Kingdom of God. 

Believe it or not, if you don’t have anyone in your life that rubs you the wrong way, then either you aren’t being molded for greater things of God, or you are the sandpaper.  At times, you can even be both!

Life as a Christian isn’t supposed to be a bed of roses and easy going all the time.  We should expect good and even great favor filled days, but as long as we are here on earth there will be trials that try to form against us.  Knowing who you are in Christ Jesus takes care of the sandpaper people.

“No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment you will condemn.  This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of Me,” says the LORD. (Isaiah 54:17 NKJV)

Thankfully, we have a weapon in the Word of God to shield us from the work of satan. God has promised us victory favor over circumstances.  We need the "roughing it out" battle in order to experiece the favor of God that leads to a victory!  So come on sandpaper people, take your best shot!

“These things I (Jesus) have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NKJV)

What Kind of Traveler are You?

It is a scene you never forget. People running in the airport with tons of baggage.  They are draping it over their shoulders, pushing it along with a foot, dragging it behind them with one major suitcase on wheels. 

Simply put they are overwhelmed by all the "stuff" they feel they need to carry, and more than likely, most of it will never get used.  Even more, although they know they are carring a load they do not need to, they keep doing it over and over as if something might change.

We are like that traveler, carrying burdens God said we do not need to carry.  As a matter of fact, He asks us to unload them, yet we still feel the need to hang on to what we really want to be rid of in reality.

What Kind of Traveler are You?

Let me pose these questions to you.  Are you the type of traveler where the luggage is weighted with heavy burdens that should have been left at the foot of the cross?  Do past sins, unforgiveness, guilt, envy and strife cause your suitcases to weigh in as “additional carry-on baggage?" 

Are you tired of collecting these badges along the way, resulting in excess beyond what you can handle?

Until we learn to travel “light” with Jesus by casting our cares on Him (1 Peter 5:7), we’re going to constantly be detoured away from our life’s goals and His favor.  After all, would you give favor to someone who does not trust you or your word?  Certainly not, neither will God.

"...casting ALL your care upon Him, for He cares for you." 2 Peter 5:7

The word cast means to throw out, toss away from you in the opposite direction from where you are.  To intently, on purpose hurl something out of your reach.  Are you doing that or are you adding to unneccesary overloaded baggage?

Trust God Over Emotions

As part of your life plan, stay focused on the prize of the High calling (Philippians 3:14).  It starts with unloading emotional and physical luggage, while trusting and leaning on the Lord.

"I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." 

Philippians 3:14

If you are wondering why you are not seeing Daily Favor in your life, check your trust factor.

No matter what is happening in your life, believe God's word over what you are feeling. Feelings change, God's word doesn't.  The Bible asks us "which one do you believe?"  This gives us a choice. We can either choose to believe truth, which is God's word, or our unreliable feelings.

We Changed Our You Tube Name!

Hello DF friends, my You Tube channel has a NEW look and name called:

 Favored Living!  with Fay Ann Daniels.

In addition to my articles here on Daily Favor, we (hubby and I) post about what is happening in our lives on a regular basis on YT outside of my teaching responsibilities.

I had the YT channel for years (it came with my email), but never thought anyone would be interested in our private lives, so I did not really post anything except for family or close friends.  However, lately I have felt in my spirit that in order for people to really understand the favor of God on a daily basis, they may learn from our actual experiences and what favored living looks like.

The basis of the channel is living surrounded by the favor of God, according to the passage in scripture:

"But let all who put their trust in You (God) be glad. Let them sing with joy forever.  You make a covering for them, that all who love Your name may be glad in You.  For You will make those happy who do what is right, O Lord.  You will cover them all around with Your favor (as a shield)."  Psalm 5:11-12 NLV (empasis mine)

The videos are not professional, but raw and unedited. In other words, you see them just as they are made and in the moment of what is happening.  

Hubby has also agreed to be included in sharing part of his life as he recovers.  I am not sure what that will be, but will explain as things unfold.

We share what we do, literally, which includes care giving for a brain injured person, a little gardening, reviews and fun stuff we do to cut through the chaos.  Plus you can meet some of the animal rescues in our Saturday cat of the day "caterday" posts or shorts.

Recently I have learned how to make "shorts" (yeah me!); a new first.  We have lots of videos to share and are trying to get them uploaded.  Your patience is appreciated as we begin another journey together!

I thought you might enjoy a peek into some of the things Hubby and I do on a daily basis as part of our Favored Living life!
