Everyday Favor: (Part 2)

With a few weeks passed have you thought about what we discussed last time together?

Have you come to accept that Everyday Favor is something God wants for your life?

If you’re still not convinced let me share two more truths that might sway your thinking about this marvelous gift of Heavenly favor.

Need to catch-up? Read part 1 of Everyday Favor

The Truth about God’s Favor

ü Realization #4: God’s favor is personalized.

When I say that the favor of God is personalized you might think that I mean He plays favorites … well, He does, in a way.  Let me explain.

Salvation by grace (the unmerited favor of God) isn’t just for some, but is open for anyone who will believe on Jesus, God’s Son.  In this sense God is not a respecter of persons where He will forgive some but not others.

He will and does forgive anyone and everyone who repents of their sins and believes in Jesus.  This mercy, grace, undeserving favor is available to every person who will ever walk the face of this planet.

However, once an individual accepts or receives Christ into their heart through the prayer of repentance known as salvation, they must realize and accept that more favor of the Lord is theirs as a gift from God.  This is where it becomes personalized.

So many believe that grace is only for getting out of hell and fail to understand that Jesus didn’t die for Heaven’s sake but for theirs.  He said:

"The thief (satan) comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they (believers in Him) may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)." (John 10:10 AMPC)

Now how are we going to live or enjoy that abundant life He died for without some kind of favor on our lives?

Unless a child of God believes that favor can be and is theirs through salvation as heirs, they will never experience the fullness of walking in God’s favor.  How can one receive favor if they don’t believe in it?

The same way someone receives salvation (by faith) is how they receive the benefits of God’s favor – by faith.  Psalm 103 has just a few of the spiritual benefits of salvation that we are not to forget, favor is among those precious gifts as Kingdom Kids.

Evidence of God’s favor can be seen by others and that’s the way God planned it so it will draw people close to Him.  Throughout the entire Bible we read of individuals who grew more and more in God’s favor, because they believe and received by faith what was promised to them personally.

For someone to receive favor they must understand that God doesn’t fulfill a personal “wish list” just because a person is a believer - on the contrary.

What God has prepared for your life is personal. It’s yours alone and He has designed the kind of favor you will need to fulfill the call on your life.  Sometimes favor may look similar, but what you need will not exactly match up with someone else’s particular need.

"And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
(Philippians 4:19 AMPC)

Doing a “personal” favor is exactly what God does when it comes to helping you reach your Divine destiny.  What He does for others, He will do for you if it is part of His design for your life.

The more personal your relationship becomes with Jesus, the more you realize that everything is for Christ and all about Him.  As you grow closer to God favor will increase, because He knows you have a surrendered heart.

ü Realization #5: You have continual favor.

I think this is probably my “favor” - ite truth about God’s unmerited grace and favor. With thanksgiving I proclaim it every day of my life.

“For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will
surround him/her as with a shield.” (Psalm 5:12 NKJV)

If you are a child of God’s you have been made righteous by Jesus not anything you did.  It’s the righteousness of Jesus which allows us to enjoy the Daily Favor of God that He received.

Are you a believer?  Then by faith you have a shield of Daily Favor surrounding you 24/7 – 365.  In other words, all the time.  Continually!

Jesus Our Everyday Favor Covering

When I began teaching on creation over twenty years ago, I explained that before the flood there was a crystalline shield or canopy that surrounded the planet.
Simply put and without getting into major scientific details I used an example the class could relate to in this comparison.

One way to describe it is to look at the shell of a fresh egg.  It covers the contents inside as a protective barrier, however if it is broken the interior no longer is the same.

Sin caused God’s protective favor shield around our planet to be broken through a worldwide flood during Noah’s time.  Everything became vulnerable to destruction, but God provided a way of escape for believer’s (Noah’s family).  In order for them to be saved they had to enter through the ark door.

For the New Testament believer, the Ark is a metaphor or “type” of Christ covering for the Church, whereas it was a means or door of salvation.  The Lord refers to this Himself in John 10:9a saying,

"I am the Door; anyone who enters in through Me will be saved
(will live eternally with Me in Heaven)."

Christians are covered with the continual Everyday Favor of salvation. It surrounds them as a shield would protect one from an enemy.  This grace is ours now and for eternity as a promise to those who believe and receive Christ.

After Noah’s family was safely inside the ark, GOD (Elohim) closed the door from the outside, pre-demonstrating that Jesus is the only doorway to God and Heaven. There is no other way to Heaven. All must enter through Him for access. (Genesis 6:16 and 7:16)

Are you ready to receive the favor that God planned for your life before your birth?  I hope that without any doubt you are convinced that Everyday Favor is
a promise of truth for believers in Christ Jesus as Savior.

My prayer for you is that of the Apostle Peter’s as you come to understanding the truth about God’s favor.

“May God give you more and more grace (favor) and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.

By His Divine power, God has given us everything we need for
living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know Him,  the one who called us to Himself by means of His marvelous glory and excellence.” (2 Peter 1:2-3)

Sing this with me ...
May You Grow in Grace

Until next time, believe in everyday favor!

5 Ways to Live in Continual Favor: Part 1

It won't be long before the big weekend to “spring ahead” and move forward into the better things the year has to offer arrives … right?  Another chance to follow through on those confessions we made, “I’m going to do it this year” agenda.  Some of us vowed that we would work out every day and told all our friends so we would keep our “commitment.”

After about ten days the complaining started and so we quit, but we never told anyone we stopped.  We sort of avoid that part of a conversation when we meet up with our confidants.

Isn’t that how things usually begin?  We tell God we’re going to be consistent in this or that, but our plans don’t seem to manifest past our verbalizing them in a prayer of confession.  So how can being consistent affect (and effect) the blessings and favor of God from coming daily? Continual focus!

Lather, Rinse, Repeat

I remember seeing commercials and comedy skits where the person is trapped in a cycle of repetitiveness.  They are in a shower reading the bottle of shampoo and never seem to finish what they started, because they keep doing the same thing over and over.

There are two ways to think about that silly action.  We can live our lives repeating the same bad habits over and over working ourselves into a frenzy, or we can create new habits to repeat … habits that will bring good change into our way of thinking and life.

Do that again, Sherry

It’s not big secret that repetition builds character, but it also builds new habits.  Studies have proven that a change in behavior that is repeated daily for approximately three weeks will result in it becoming a part of a person’s regular pattern.

This week I was given a challenge to blog every day.  When I asked the person why they were posting this, he told me to get people to write consistently.  For those who want to be writer’s on any level, that is good advice.

In all my English and Journalism classes I had my students keep journals in which they would write whatever was on their mind.  My reasoning for this assignment was two-fold.  It got the pupils that were aiming their sights on writing into doing it on a regular basis.  For the others, it was a way for them to vent and see how far they have come in their behavior or thoughts since their first entry.  It was a discipline I instilled hoping to form new life skills.

One of my seniors told me that the continual pattern of writing helped her when she was about to make bad decisions.  I asked Sherry how that was and she responded, “Because I can see what I was doing and how I got through that situation.  I feel better about myself knowing I’m not quick to do those things anymore."

By repeating a good behavior continually, it prevented her from falling back into bad patterns.  Isn't forming better life skills what it is about anyway?

What God is Saying?

In a conversation with my sister, she said that the Lord was dealing with her concerning consistency.  She wasn’t the only one that spoke those words to me these past few weeks.  It is a critical time in history when the unsaved will be looking for certain things to draw them to God in hope that He is true to His Word.  What the world is looking for in believers is consistency.

If we are to be the church God needs for this period, we have to stay in continual blessings and favor to be effective servants of God.  The scriptures show us steps to follow consistently as children of the Most High King.

Here are the first two steps we need to follow for living in continual favor from God.
Blessing in Continual Praise

“By You (GOD) I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You.

I have become as a wonder to many, but You are my strong refuge.

Let my mouth be filled with Your praise and with Your glory all the day.” (Psalm 71:6-8 NKJV)

By learning to give God praise on a regular and continual basis our words speak blessings into our life.  There is no room for pointless chatter or empty words, but expressions of power and life poured over our journey.
I recall a story about a missionary/evangelist pastor who was in conversation with a fellow believer.  He paused in the middle and called out to the Lord, “Forgive me Heavenly Father for not giving you praise for fifteen minutes.” He had cultivated a lifestyle of continual praise to the point that it effected how he communicated with others and how long.

Blessings in Continual Sowing
The second way to flow in continual blessings is to be a constant blessing through sowing.
King Solomon was wise to state that those who are bothered by clouds and wind (meaning they don’t work when things look bad) won’t put in their crops; therefore, they won’t have a harvest.
“He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap.” (Ecclesiastes 11:4 NKJV)

He was right, but scripture also tells us that our giving needs to be continual in many areas.
“In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand (give again); for you do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good.” (Ecclesiastes 11:4,6 NKJV)

It’s hard to give up what we’ve been given sometimes, because our believer isn’t working the way it should.  We say we trust God will supply all our needs, but only if we have the money to cover it if He doesn’t.
Inconsistent giving breeds inconsistent favor.
What are you breeding?

When God provides for us to be a blessing to someone we are to do it no matter how many times a day He may ask us to divvy up our goods.  In return He promises that our giving will not go unnoticed and will be rewarded.

This Week’s Challenge:
Continual Focus on Proverbs

The hardest part of being consistent is remaining focused. That’s why it’s a good idea to have something that is stronger (that being God's Word) than we are when we lose our focus along our journey.
If we are to believe God’s promises, we have to know what they are.  This week we’re going to focus on becoming patterned in reading the scriptures.  Proverbs is a good place to start for gaining wisdom for continual Christian living.
Before reading offer up to God a song of praise. The challenge is to read one proverb a day.  That is we’re going to read the proverb that coincides with the day of the month.  For example, if today were March 6th, begin by reading Proverbs 6.
The next day read Proverbs 7 and so forth.  When you get to the end of the month, start over.  In shorter months, read the last chapters of Proverbs and begin fresh on the beginning of the next month. This is something that you will continue to do even after the challenge, because you believe what you are reading to be true.
I have done this for years and guarantee that if you do this you will read more of the Bible than just this one chapter a day.
By reading God’s Word daily, we will restructure how we believe, think and go about our day.
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My Word, you are my disciple indeed.  And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-31 NKJV)
When *satan starts planting seeds of discouragement, doubt and despair into your head, the continual Word of God will sprout into belief thoughts.  The Holy Spirit will help you recall all you read, the things you have done for Christ and help you focus on the promises of God.  He will grant favor because you believed and obeyed Him.

Believe God's continual favor comes through:

1 - Blessings in Continual Praise
2 - Blessings in Continual Sowing.

Read Part 2

We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise

Until next time, continually focus on God’s promised favor.
Note: The word or reference to satan is not capitalized on purpose.

“My Word is my favor.”

5 Ways to Live in Continual Favor: Part 2

Have you ever prayed and then did something thinking ...

“Oh, great, now I blew my prayer request.  There’s no way God will answer that one.”?

Well, that’s what the devil wants you to think.  As a matter of fact, he wants you to believe all those godly seeds you’ve been continually planting morning and night (like I mentioned in last week’s part 1) are destroyed.
Let me assure you, they are not.  God’s mercy allows us to step right back into His gracious favor.

Blessings in Continual Fear of the Lord
Continuing on our journey, believing what we believe, this one may cause your radar to sound, and I hope it does.  When the Bible talks to us about having a “fear of the Lord” it doesn’t mean we are to be afraid of God.  When we see this phrase in scripture it refers to the children of the Lord having a reverence and awe for who Jehovah is – GOD.

People use the word “awesome” so much these days that they have destroyed the value of the meaning and to whom it belongs.  I never use that word for anyone or anything except when referring to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.  There is no one like Him, so how can we use words that describe His greatness on anything or anyone but Him.

“And you shall eat before the LORD your God, in the place where He chooses to make His name abide, the tithe of your grain and your new wine and your oil, of the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, that you may learn to fear (reverence) the LORD your God always (continually so it becomes habit).”  (Deuteronomy 14:23 NKJV)

Having a fear of the Lord comes with wisdom in knowing who He is, and recognizing that all blessings come from Him alone.  Revering God above everything else with your praise, blessings, offering and life will cause Him to dwell with you.
When God’s in your house, He doesn’t come empty handed!

“…that all the people of the earth may know the Hand of the LORD, that it is mighty, that you may fear the LORD your God forever.” (Joshua 4:24 NKJV)

Blessings in Continual Prayer
Throughout the Bible we read how people prayed and the Lord delivered them out of all their distresses.  How often do you pray?  Most people only pray when they are in a jam and need God to pull them out of their predicament.  They never even think to talk to Him daily let alone be in a continual conversation with Him, and then they wonder why God doesn’t swoop down like Superman to save them.

Our need to stay in a state of prayer isn’t because we are always afraid something is going to happen.  We are encouraged to be in communion with God so that when things do arise, we already have answers and we believe the Lord will do as He promised.
Continual prayer boosts our belief life, because we are reminded of the goodness, grace and mercy of God even when we didn’t deserve it. What it really means is maintaining preparedness for our journey.

“He saved them from the hand of him who hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.”
         (Psalm 106:10 NKJV)
“Many times He regarded their affliction, but they rebelled in their       counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.
Nevertheless He regarded their affliction, when He heard their cry; and for their sake He remembered His covenant,
and relented according to the multitude of His mercies.”
(Psalm 106:43-45 NKJV)

This is one of my husband’s favorite verses; it reminds us of how good our God is.  It is so powerful that the psalmist mentions it four times in Psalm 107:

“Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them out of (ALL) their distresses.” (Psalm 107 NKJV)
How many distresses?  Not some, but all of them.

Blessings in Continual Rejoicing

Have you ever been in a store where you see a “joy sucker” you want to avoid, so you slip into another aisle hoping they didn’t see you?  I know I’ve done it and so has my husband.  We scurry around the premises gasping so we don’t have that encounter with that “brother or sister” in Christ who wants to tell us about every bad thing that is happening in their life.  You don’t want to seem uncaring, but there are only twenty-four hours in a day!  I hope I’m never that person people are trying to avoid.

What a downer to see a Christian in a bad mood over something that shows they have no faith.  How in the world can the Lord bless such a sour puss?  If we really believe what we say we believe about God’s Word, our outlook on things would dramatically change.

Instead of seeing our up and down moods, people would notice that when they see us we are in a continual joyful state.  Our situations would change and people would view us differently. They would actually want to be around us!  Wouldn’t that be nice?

“As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things."
 (2 Corinthians 6:10 NKJV)
“Rejoice in the Lord always.
Again (continually) I will say, rejoice!”
(Philippians 4:4 NKJV)

Saints should be continually joyful even when we are sorrowful, not because we ignore the pain, but we know the outcome is in God’s hands.

If we truly believed we walk in the favor of God, our circumstances would be continually changing as our praise enters Heaven's gates.  Our habit of praising, sowing, praying and rejoicing would be a goal we strive to achieve as we reverence the Lord our Creator.

“We are what we repeatedly do.
Excellence, therefore is not an act but a habit.”
Aristotle

This Week’s Challenge:
Continual Rejoicing

Consistency is vital for any successful venture, especially in pursuing Christ.  It's not something you can do once in a while, but has to become a lifestyle if we are to live what we say we actually believe.
To help us remember that our believing God is key to His blessings, we are going to learn to rejoice always, again and again and again.

For seven days we are going to sing scripture blessings unto the Lord as He has instructed.  God tells us to remind Him of His Word not because He needs to remember what He said, but so we remember what He has promised.
I’m sure you know many songs that contain passages of the Bible, but this week’s challenge is to memorize Philippines 4:4 through singing it to God in prayer (using the video's below).  In doing so, we will fulfill the last three items needed to walk in continual favor.
“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I will say rejoice.”
 (Philippines 4:4 NKJV)

When you are feeling discouraged or disheartened, remind yourself of what you believe and that continual favor from God comes through:

Blessings in Continual Praise

Blessings in Continual Sowing

Blessings in Continual Fear of the Lord

Blessings in Continual Prayer

Blessings in Continual Rejoicing

This is Philippians 4:4.
Memorize it and you will have sung the Bible.

Until next time, continually focus on God’s promised favor.

“My Word is my favor.”
