Believe that You Are Special

Friday, May 2, 2025
Difference Maker
The beginning of May has the world celebrating the appreciation of teachers, nurses, hospitals and mothers along with a few other holidays. Nowhere do I see the celebration of appreciation of your own life or the life of others who do not fall in a specific category.
Like Moses we may ask, “How can I alone bear your problems, burdens and complaints?” (from Deuteronomy 1:12 NKJV)

He Is Not Here, but Risen
The rock at the entrance of the tomb where Jesus laid was rolled back. An angel told the news of Christ's resurrection declaring He is not here but has risen from the dead just like He said would happen.
Read about this wonderful miracle of God in Matthew 18:1-13; Mark 16:1-14; Luke 14:1-49; John 20:1-23.

Holy Week - Saturday
The chief priests and the Pharisees went before Pilate and told him how Jesus claimed He would come back to life after three days. They asked that guards be placed in front of the tombstone so that no one could steal the body, making a claim that Jesus was alive. Pilate granted the request and said to make it as secure as possible.
This transaction can be found in Matthew 27:62-66.
Jesus' body was in a tomb, but He also went to Hell and took the keys to death from satan. He conquered death, hell and the grave. (Read Ephesians 4:8-9)
Jesus said, "I am He that lives, and was dead; and behold, I am alive for evermore. Amen, and have the keys of Hell and death." (Revelation 1:18)

Holy Week - Good Friday
Jesus was crucified on a cross in Golgotha known as the Place of the Skull, which was located outside of Jerusalem, and then laid in a tomb.
Golgotha means place of the skull in Aramaic, and is Latin for calcaria. It is translated in English as Calvary, the place where Jesus was crucified.
Read about this life changing event for all mankind in Matthew 27:1-61; Mark 15:1-47; Luke 22:63-23:56; John 18:28-19:37.

Holy Week - Thursday
Thursday (Maundy Thursday) – The Last Supper, Gethsemane Prayer and the Betrayal Kiss.
Jesus washed the feet of the disciples and celebrated the Passover. This is where He gave the meaning of the meal establishing the first communion and giving the new commandment.
Later that evening He went to the garden of Gethsemane where He was arrested by the Roman soldiers following the betrayal of Judas.
The term known as “Maundy” originates from the Latin work “mandatum” meaning commandment, referring to the new commandment in John 13:34 that Jesus gave to the disciples at the Last Supper. “Love one another as I have loved you, that you love one another."
Although Passover is not a commandment for Christians but began for the Old Testament Jewish nation, it is still observed among the Jews and many believers as a fulfillment of the prophecy of Christ Jesus.
Read the details of these accounts in Matthew 26:17-75; Mark 14:12-72; Luke 22:7-62; John 13:1-38.
