For days I have been trying to get work done online, but
there was always something (mainly storms) that prevented it from happening. Even as I’m posting this time is being
crunched to get it done before another “event” occurs.
I can tell you I was extremely upset not being able to
post as usual and hoped that everyone wouldn’t ditch Daily Favor in the
process. Does that sound like a
self-confidence issue to you? Naw …
Mainly I felt that I was a disappointment to God by letting
Him and you down not being able to get all my work completed; that is until my
husband reminded me of something.

Don't miss out on this week's challenge
(below).
Have you ever wondered why people spend so much time
thinking about the things they don’t have or failed to achieve and devote very
little thought time on the blessings that are before them? I put some brain power to it when I thought
about last week’s “nothing” seems to be happening post.
Let me refresh you on the exchange between my husband and
myself that started all this:
Our conversation
consisted of how our regular “routine” had been extremely active, while quietly
wondering where God’s favor could be seen.
We’ve been praying and hoping for specific things to be manifested by
now, but nothing …
“But I keep praying to You, Lord,
hoping this time You will show me favor.
In Your unfailing love, O God, answer my prayer
with
Your sure salvation.” (Psalm 69:13 NLT)
My husband reminded me of what we had
discussed. Sitting on the couch he began talking out our week, while I was
trying to concentrate on the computer before having to shut it down due to the
storm. Obviously it was repayment for all
the times I do that to him.
There’s a whole lot of “something” going on around our
little corner of the universe. He began
listing all the events of his days of
Daily Favor. This is his story.
He Called It Free Favor
On Sunday when my husband went out to the car he saw that
the left front tire was flat. Digging around in his “well-organized” trunk
(like that’s going to happen), he drug out the portable compressor that plugs
into the cigarette lighter and pumped up the tire.
Coming back in the house he told me of the dilemma and
said that he needed to go to the service center. Rolling over in bed I gave a “kiss-kiss” on
his hand and he left. Miss Compassion
went back to sleep as hubby ventured out to solve the problem swiftly.
He recognized God’s favor in the fact that the tire was
under warranty and fixed for free. His compact
air compressor worked great so he didn’t have to change the tire, and the
repair fee was waived.
“Blessed shall you be when you come in, and
blessed shall
you be when you go out.” (Deuteronomy 28:6
NKJV)
Monday
Oooh, this one excited him. He got a forty pound bag of cat
litter for free, and when collecting the mail hubby received coupons from a pet
food company that were for six cans of cat food (any size). The cost ... FREE! Thus proving God blesses those who take
care of His creatures.
“A righteous man cares about his
animal’s health …”
(Proverbs 12:10a HCSB)
Tuesday Night into Wednesday Morning
It was around 1 a.m. and we had just gotten to sleep when
once again the tornado warning alert sirens were blaring. Text messages were
coming in to the cell phone about an additional severe thunderstorm warning
with hail, strong lightning, heavy downpours and high winds. Hubby turned the local radio station on and
listened as they tracked the storm on the radar.
The announcers related that the winds were turning
counterclockwise which points to the possibility of a developing tornado. The
storm was seven miles outside of town moving at 50 mph, and heading directly toward
our location.
As we continued to pray and rebuke the storm, it made a
sudden turn to the north. You could hear relief and a return of calmness in the
radio broadcaster’s voices as they continued their coverage. Another freebie from God as His children …
protection from the storm!
“Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall
you be in the country.” (Deuteronomy 28:3 KJV)
Wednesday
Now this one will have to wait … it’s too big! You’ll just have to come back and find out
what happened for the remainder of the day!
Thursday
What a day to rejoice as we woke to the new mercies of
God. The morning began with the birds
singing and splashing in the birdbath on a sunny 77 degree day; something
unusual for early March. It was so nice
outside we had the windows and door opened to catch the mild breezes of the
day.
Wanting to get some fresh air I decided to take advantage
of the weather and do a bit of leash training with one of the cats, when a big drop
of rain bounced off my shoulder. That
was when we knew something was going to happen, but we were on top of it
through the power of prayer.
By mid-afternoon the cycle repeated as another strong
storm was headed our way! The National Weather Service issued extended severe
thunderstorm warnings that were ditto the forecast from previous days.
Within seconds the sky blackened, but when the rains came
we didn’t get the torrential downpours that were predicted. The winds were gentle and mild; and what
about that hail? It was only pea size and lasted about two
minutes.
The rumblings and lightning went on but stayed out at a
distance as the storm continued into the wee hours of the morning. Once again God’s shield of favor held back
the storm rendering it powerless.
Through experience, we absolutely see God working and
know beyond the shadow of a doubt that He is in control. He is the one causing the protective covering
to stay in place as we abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most
High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust." (Psalm 91:1-2 NKJV)
Days of Daily Favor
It has been a week of “freebies” as my husband put it,
but he also claimed it as God’s favor on His children for obedience.
When it was time for my husband to settle his
debt from the tire blow out, the clerk did something in a tangible way for us
to see the Lord’s favor on the situation.
The young man printed out the receipt listing all the
charges for the work that was done. One
by one they read "0", with the total amount due of "0". Handing
the canceled debt receipt to hubby he said,
“I like printing this
out because it looks neat
and I like not charging
people when I could have.”
We are reminded of what Jesus did for us on the cross
when he canceled our sin debt by nailing the ordinances against us to the cross.
He didn’t have to do that and each one
of us could very well be charged for every debt we owe. Jesus didn’t charge us when He could have.
Another reminder that the grace of God through His merciful
favor brings our sin balance to the amount due – “0” – zero.
“And you, being dead in your trespasses and the
uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having
forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting
of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken
it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.” (Colossians 2:13-14 NKJV)
Adding to the List of Daily Favor
Last week’s post talked about times when nothing exciting
seemed to be happening. It was a perfect
segue to the events of this week reminding us that in times of nothing God is
always doing something.
Let me ask, if you were to write down the events of the day, how many acts of God's favor would you recognize? When listing all the things you experience have you ever included the work of the cross as God’s Daily Favor on the life of a believer?
Our challenge this week is to thank the Lord for His
Daily Favor blessings that we receive each and every day because of what Jesus
did for us on the cross. We have been forgiven
of all our sins, given authority to command healing, have power over the work
of satan and so much more is available to us as children of the Most High God.
As I was pounding out words on the keyboard, my husband
was calculating events of God’s favor in his head as dollar signs that read “free”
and days He provided shields of protection.
He pondered over each day and the blessings that went before him,
recognizing how God had positioned every step of his week where he would find
favor by not leaving empty handed.
I'd like to encourage you with this. The devil will fill your head with lies telling you that
you’re a disappointment, but don’t believe any of it! God loves you, and because of your love for
Jesus He favors you! Not just today or tomorrow, but His plan is to give you Daily Favor on into eternity!
Thank you hubby for reminding us of Christ’s love and faithfulness
upon believer’s in canceling the debt of sin on the cross. Jesus wants us to live in His favor. He came that we might have life in abundance,
and receive it through the free salvation gift pack we enjoy as God’s endless
Days of Daily Favor.
“May God give
you favor in the sight of people,
and when you
depart you will not go empty handed.”
(from Exodus
3:21 emphasis mine)
