Thanks!

Can you believe that fall is already upon us?  The summer seemed to breeze by barely giving us time to enjoy the season.  That's when we have to step back and take notice of what God is doing in the present.

I just want to pause right now to give all of you that have pray for us a giant thank you.  It means so much knowing that whatever we are experiencing there are people lifting us up before the Lord in prayer.  That leads me to sharing some news about hubby's health.

Since April my husband had been losing weight continually (over 25 pounds) and hardly eating.  It came to the point where he completely stopped eating and had a fever around 103 that wouldn't break.  After a few emergency visits he was finally admitted to the hospital.

I really cannot tell you how many tests were done on him to find out what was wrong, but hundreds I suppose.  There were so many that they had to even take blood from his neck (ouch!).  On the positive side I guess, he was so out of it that he didn't know all that was happening.

Last week they came to the conclusion that besides being severely dehydrated along with a bacterial infection, he also had "cat scratch fever".  With us so involved with animal rescues, it didn't seem that strange.  However, due to his weak immune system it became extremely serious and life threatening.

Hubby is home and recovering, but some of the symptoms are trying to return.  He isn't losing weight now, but still isn't eating much either.  In order for him to gain strength to fight off anything he must eat whether it hurts or not.  With some convincing he is trying to eat at least once a day, even if it's a small portion.

As for the other tests (black spot on his kidney and prostate concerns) the latest doctor's reports, x-rays and tests this week came back great.  We thank God for these new finds and believe that hubby's health will be restored completely.

If you or a loved one is experiencing health problems I offer this to you.  Put your trust and faith in a God who heals. His name is Jesus.  Call upon His mighty name and declare words of health and healing into your life just like King David did.

"O LORD my God, I cried out to You and You healed me."
(Psalm 30:2)

Click on the favor for healing scriptures on this site and keep believing.  Then repeat this prayer and expect healing to be manifested through your confession of faith.

During the weekend beginning on August 23rd, the Christian film "Overcomer" by the Kendrick brothers opened in theaters across America.  We were blessed to be able to go see the film and believe it is a vessel God will use for soul winning.

The characters in the feature experience life changing situations, and come to the realization that their lives will never be the same.  Like the movie demonstrates, you too can overcome any situation you encounter when Jesus Christ is by your side.

How does this happen?  Through God's grace and placing faith in Jesus as the Son of God.  By accepting Christ as your Savior, you will receive God's redemption favor, which is forgiveness of sin and reconciliation with the Heavenly Father.  You can learn more about the grace of God and salvation by clicking here

Wait, there's more wonderful news ... If you have had trouble seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, here are 10 Steps to Turning Your World Around for good!

Until next time, accept God's forgiving favor.

On the home front …
Isn't my little froggy cute?
Oh, how I love working with flowers, and gardening week was certainly a pleasure for me.  It made up for all the stuff that had to be cleaned up from the storms this spring.

I was able to find a few of the plants to replace the ones that were lost from bad weather, but not all of them.  That’s okay for now, because I was excited to try some new items in my garden and was able to do just that. Yeah!

I’ll be posting some photos on Facebook if you’re interested in seeing my potted arrangements and my kids pool garden.  You’ll also see how we re-purpose cat litter pails in the garden area.

We have loads more to do, but getting the garden semi back in order was something we really needed to accomplish asap if we are to have any entries in this year’s county fair.  The tomatoes are really starting to take off and so are my luffas.  As for the peppers, the day lilies are overtaking them so they may have to be moved.

Hubby News - I haven’t said anything about the ablation surgery that the doctor wants to do on hubby’s leg simply because we haven’t heard from them until this week.  He is scheduled for an ultra sound next week and I guess we’ll know what the doctor is going to do after the results come back.  As soon as we hear something, I’ll let you know.  We appreciate your prayers!

On the continuing education testing front, I’m pleased to say that I was able to finish another part of the certification class.  It will be several weeks before I know the results.  I’m not sure when the next testing set is, but it will probably be this summer – hopefully.

This weekend is Father’s Day, and hubby is hopping ready to try out his new grill.  The last one nearly exploded so I told him it would be recycled into a planter!  Plants seem to thrive for me in old BBQ grills for some reason.  (Take a look here.)  Anyway, my husband still wanted to use it but I told him I didn’t like the taste of propane!

One more thing I’d like to convey.  The best thing a father can give a child is to believe in them.  God has given each individual special gifts and talents that lead them to success and happiness in their field.  Believe in those God given gifts; encourage and nurture them.

Teach those who God has given you to walk in integrity, choosing to do what is right in the sight of God over man.  As a result, they will find favor from God and be blessed by Him.  You may like our series In the Sight of God and Man as a study tool for teaching on this particular subject.

"The Righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed (happy/favored) after him." (Proverbs 20:7 NKJV)

Whether or not you will be spending time with your family this weekend as America celebrates fathers, we would like to thank all those who have contributed to the lives of so many, standing in the gap serving in a fatherly manner.  We appreciate your love, dedication and wisdom to future generations.

Lord willing I'll see you here for a new lesson on God's Daily Favor!  Have a blessed and safe holiday everybody!  Oh .. and display your American flag beginning the 14th for National Flag Week.

Until next time, give fatherly favor to the fatherless!

A few bits of news to catch you up on about my husband's health.  He has had two procedures the past few weeks and praise God they went well.  Thank you for keeping us covered in your daily prayers.

He has to have another ablation surgery because his leg is "leaking" again as I describe it.  The blood (and fluids) are pooling and not circulating to the heart like they should.  You can read about the details that started back on 8/10/18 from the Hubby Update page.  It's pretty far down on the page so just keep scrolling - you'll get there.

This coming week I'll be taking some time off from my regular work to finish another certification class and testing.  Must keep up on current studies to keep growing right?  Pray that I do well.

After that I hope I'll have time for some R & R before hubby's surgery.  He can't do much walking around for a while after the procedure, at least until the swelling goes down.

Oh, and my garden - it's in, but the storms have done a mischief on them.  Scouting around for specific plants over the weekend and hopefully I'll find what I need (not really - what I'd like to have).

As for the holiday, Memorial Day weekend has always played a special part in my life.  Growing up it was the biggest event for our family, and holds fond memories for me.   There was tons of food like watermelon, fresh NJ corn on the cob, mom's potato salad and my favorite - mayonnaise cake!

When the meal was finished we'd pile in cars and head to the little league field to play baseball with the entire family. Yes, it was that large we could have our own teams!  When the game was done we'd head home for more food, swimming and fun into the night hours with my parents playing their guitars and singing.

Some of you have shared your plans with me of how your holiday includes family and friends as well.  My husband and I pray that you are able to add to those memories for many years to come.

May we also bear in mind the reason for this event by giving thanks to the Lord for those who sacrificed so much for our freedom.  Remember to pray for those who still remain in spiritual, physical, emotional, social and financial bondage.

“Christ has set us free! This means we are really free. Now hold on to your freedom and don’t ever become slaves of the Law again.” (Galatians 5:1 CEV)

Lord willing I'll see you here next week for a new lesson on God's Daily Favor!  Have a blessed and safe holiday everybody!

Until next time, be thankful for the favor of freedom through Christ!

Ahhh, that Holy Spirit breeze … don’t you love it!  The glorious fresh smells of spring.

Even as I'm writing, Easter lilies and hyacinths fill the air of my front porch in preparation for the activities surrounding Resurrection Day.
Image result for image Easter lilies and hyacinths

After returning home from church services on Sunday, they will be moved indoors to adorn the table as a centerpiece for our meal.  It’s something extra to make this Holy day special, but not the most important thing that we'll remember in years to come.

This year will be different … instead of attending a regular Sunday service, we are joining in a community evangelism event for winning souls.  Much like the first Disciples, believers are canvassing the city as the Body of Christ inviting people from all over the county to hear the good news of salvation in hope of rebuilding the church. No fan fair, trumpets blasting, lights flashing … simple sharing the message of the cross.

I'd like to address this to the church, that is the Body of Christ.  Besides, Christmas and Mother's Day, Easter services are among the highest attended.  At least they were in the past, but not so in the last five years.

There are tons reasons for declining church attendance including some saying services are boring, not friendly, no children’s activities and even unclean restrooms.  Whatever the reason, people aren’t going.

What you may find surprising is that in a 2018 poll done by LifeWay Research, 96% surveyed said that if they were invited to attend church they would probably go at least once!  The problem is, people aren’t asking.

It doesn’t matter where you live; over 65 countries reported that church attendance is rapidly declining.  One of the last assignments Jesus gave to this followers was to make Disciples and carry out the Great Commission.  It was so important that all four gospels talk about this instruction.

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, all authority has been given to Me in Heaven and on earth. Go therefore (into all the world Mark16:15and make Disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; an lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen."
(Matthew 28:16-20 NKJV and Mark 16:14–18;

As we have been studying in our "Wherever the Wind Blows" series, Jesus promised that He would favor us with the "Holy Spirit Breeze", which is "power" so the Body of Christ (believers) would be added to on a regular basis.

Here’s my question, if believers already have been given such power, why is the “church” getting smaller instead of growing?  We have forgotten to keep inviting people to our services.

I know that getting dressed up in nice clothes is fun and planning that fancy dinner for the family is high on your list for the Easter holiday, but it means nothing without salvation.  This is the time – the appointed or set time when people will listen.

“This is what the Lord says:
I will answer your prayers because I have set a time (of favor) when I will help by coming to save you. I have chosen you to take my promise (salvation breeze) of hope to other nations.” (Isaiah 49:8a)

Over the course of the week with Easter fresh on the mind of the world, make it a point to invite someone to church.  Pray and ask the Lord who you should invite to a service or share the message of salvation

Our job is to "go and tell" the message, not make people believe - that's God's part.  Even if they don’t take you up on the offer, the seed is planted for the Holy Spirit to work on that individual.  Jesus is ready to save and forgive the nations if we would only tell them.

Until next time, Holy Spirit favor awaits you!

2019 "Yesterday's" News ...

I don't know about you, but I find it difficult to spend time inside when so much is happening right outside my doors.  Early in the morning vehicles of all sorts rush up and down our streets on their way to somewhere.

During work hours more of the same with folks on the move hoping to accomplish great things that day.  Suddenly I see something different.  People are stopping to talk, chat and catch-up with someone passing by on their way to who knows where.

Wait a minute, they seem to be smiling.  One of them is talking about strange things happening around their community.  They all look excited, I wonder why?  Oh - someone has just received good news!

Don't you feel a sense of relief when someone shares a good report with you?  It makes my day when that happens and I can't wait to spread the word.

With so much bad news making the headlines one has to practically wear earplugs to block out all the negativity to stay in faith.  That's why it's so important to proclaim what God has done by speaking up when given the opportunity.

The Bible tells us that when we share good news it's refreshing as a drink of cold water to those who are downhearted. (Proverbs 25:25)  Just think what sharing the gospel message of salvation can do to bring hope to the lost?

“I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness in the great assembly; indeed, I do not restrain my lips, O Lord,
You Yourself know.”  (Psalm 40:9 NKJV)

I'd like to entreat you to make it a regular part of your day to share good things that happen in your life.  Whether you are in a parking lot or surrounded by people you haven't seen in a while, say something about the goodness of God.

Give them that "cold drink" from Jesus' well to refresh their soul.  Explain how the Lord pulled you out of a jam, answered a prayer or defended and favored your cause.

“Let them shout for joy and be glad, Who favor my righteous cause; and let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.” (Psalm 35:27 NKJV)

Until next time, let the Righteous declare God's favor!

I hope that you've been joining us for our new Bible study teaching series entitled "Begin in Favor" and even more, that you've been sharing it with friends and family.  If you haven't caught up here are the links:

In the beginning it was only supposed to be a two part lesson, but God's vision for this turned out to be better.  How much more, at this point I honestly don't know.

Speaking of vision, how's your vision board coming?  It doesn't have to be perfect, but as we progress through this particular series I hope you will have sense of how your life vision matches up with God's plan.  Reading through part 2 (which will be posted Friday) should help make things "plain" as God put it in Habakkuk 2.

As the beginning months of 2019 quietly slip into history, l pray that you are already making headway in believing God for great things by expanding your vision.  With the Lord's blessings you can always Begin in Favor and live the life He planned from His Garden.

Be encouraged, God believes in your vision as much as you do.  Share it with Him and get started living the vision that was once just a dream!
Until next time, may your vision begin in God's favor!

If you would like to learn more about God's garden and how it relates to favor, you can read it in the seven part teaching series Life in God's Garden.

I'd like to share something with you, and not just because January 12th is National Vision Board Day.  Does the picture give you a clue?

This week I'd like to review some serious favor issues ... that is how not to get any from God!

Simply put, God is a master of goal getting.  He always finishes what He starts, and achieves His goals no matter what things may look like to us.  How does He do things?  He started with a vision that included you and me!

Having this inside info from Him through scriptures don't you think we should see how He gets the job done?  He started from scratch with a vision of something that did not exist.  Then following His plan He put words into action until everything that was envisioned became visual!

Yes, having insight to God's ways will require work on your part, but it's so worth it.  Besides, creating your own vision board can be rather fun!  Click on the link and let's get started!

I pray this will encourage you and be a blessing in helping you live out your life vision in the favor of God.

Until next time, God wants to put favor on your vision!

Are you ready to dig into all that the New Year holds ahead of it?  Hope so ...

I was taking a look at some of the things that we might be interested in celebrating and the list seems overwhelming to say the least.

If you included the international, monthly, weekly and daily not so "national" holidays, you would be observing approximately 155 days, and that's just in January with the majority of it being in America!  So basically even men would be multi-functioning ... is that possible?  Just kidding guys ...

For me, I'm already ahead of schedule with National Pizza week (which begins the 7th), but I suppose that doesn't really count since I pretty much make this a regular holiday along with hobbies and hot tea.  Soup month? Maybe, but it has to be just the right kind, you know what I mean?  Plus I have to be in the mood for it, which I'm not about 25 days of the month. Okay, to be fair I guess I should cross that one off the list.

Alas, I've moved on to more recent aspirations such as National Black Diamond Month, Cuckoo Dancing with the greatest for me being "Clean Out Your Inbox".  Thankfully that's only a weekly observance and comes at the end of the month - whew ... there's plenty of time for that.

Although the world may set days that it feels would bring great pleasure to us, I'm all for waiting on God for the grand things He has prepared for me this year. What about you?  Are you excited for what God has in store for 2019 as well?

Together let us be in prayer each week on DFB as we wait on the great blessings that are to come and choose to Begin in Favor from the Lord.

Until next time, begin this year in God's favor!

It was a good start to the year! Take a look at the top 5 articles read last week:
